Shalimar: A Story of Place and Migration: In conversation with Davina Quinlivan

  • Bookbag Fore Street Exeter, England, EX4 3AN United Kingdom (map)

Bookbag and University of Exeter present: Dr Ellen Wiles in conversation with Author Davina Quinlivan.

After the death of her father, Davina Quinlivan struggled to find ‘home’ in the English countryside and the mythology of her family’s migration story. Her story begins in colonial India and Burma, where the women in her family descend from the indigenous tribes and diasporas of Portuguese Kerala and the Shan Hills of Myanmar, migrating to England in the 1950’s.

Quinlivan conjures a place between continents and worlds that places importance on belonging and migration, and how our family history and sense of place can root or displace us.

Cost: Free - limited spaces, email or message on Instagram to reserve a spot.
