Spork! Christmas Special

Join Spork! this December for another big dollop of poetry, comedy, live music & Christmassy cheer.

Featuring award-winning poet Raymond Antrobus, spoken-word artist Luke Wright, drag queen Bopa Rhys & The Exeter Railway Band.

This event will include a live BSL interpreter 

Cost: £8 (£5 student/under 25)


Raymond Antrobus

Raymond Antrobus was born in London to an English mother and Jamaican father. He is the 2019 recipient of the Ted Hughes Award as well as the Sunday Times/University of Warwick Young Writer of the Year Award, and became the first poet to be awarded the Rathbone Folio Prize. His first full-length collection, ‘The Perseverance’ was shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize and The Forward Prize, ‘All The Names Given’ was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot prize and the Costa Award. In 2021 and 2022 his poems were added to the UK’s AQA and Oxford, Cambridge and RSA ‘GCSE’ syllabus. His work often explores the d/Deaf experience, masculinity, dementia, race and heritage.

Luke Wright

Flamboyant, political and riotously funny, Luke Wright creates inventive poems with loads of heart. Part Essex wide boy, part dandy fop, he writes from the sidelines about small-town tragedies and national farce, then performs his work with snarl and spit. Since 2006 he has written and performed ten spoken word shows and two verse plays, touring them to literary and arts festivals from Australia to Scotland via Hong Kong and Bruges.He’s won a 4Talent Award, a The Stage award, a Edinburgh Festival Fringe Award, a Saboteur Award, and had his work featured on the BBC, Sky Arts & Channel 4.

The Exeter Railway Band

Get into the festive spirit with some traditional Christmas carols performed live by the iconic Exeter Railway Band!

Bopa Rhys

Plus, the original Mrs Clause; the award winning songstress, comedienne and canny Valley Gal, BopaRhys will be spreading her legs & some Christmassy cheer with songs, jokes & stories

Accessibility Statement: There is a steep slope from the street leading to the main entrance and a flight of stairs up to our front door. More level access is possible by approaching from Exeter Central Library on Castle street. Step-free access to the building is available via a ramped entrance on the side of the building. The side entrance is equipped with automatic doors.

All ground floor spaces are fully accessible with a mix of level flooring and gentle ramps. Level access to accessible toilets is available on all floors. Please ask Box Office for the radar key if needed. We have gender neutral toilets available in Studio 74 and on the first floor.
