‘The Art of Nature Writing’ offers inspiring settings and expert instruction to explore the interplay between our inner and outer landscapes over four seasons at Powderham Castle. Our first summer session takes us into an atmospheric grove of magnificent trees and to the panoramic views of the Exe Estuary and Devon hills at the iconic 18th-century Powderham Belvedere. In these settings, New York Times best-selling author Kathryn Aalto teaches ways to sharpen your observational skills, focus your attention on your own senses, and capture these in guided writing exercises. Short lectures, lively discussions, and quiet contemplation shape the day. Two essays will be provided to read prior to our workshop. You will leave with enhanced skills to deepen your sense of place and strengthen your connection to the natural world through writing.
Come dressed for the woods with your lunch and thermos.
This four-day workshop will be following the seasons into 2022. Further dates to be announced soon for October, February and May.
