Libraries Unlimited & Exeter Library

Exeter Library has been a fixture of the city centre since it was built in 1965 (I have fond memories of the amount of Elmer in the children's section as an Exonian child in the 90s—Liv) and, since being refurbished in 2014, has been a thriving community hub in the heart of the city.

We here at Exeter City of Lit are so glad to have a co-working home here on Mondays, in one of the most-visited libraries in the UK!

Since 2016 Exeter Library has been run by Libraries Unlimited, a charitable organisation commissioned by Devon County Council & Torbay Council to run 54 libraries and 4 mobile libraries across Devon and Torbay!

Libraries Unlimited also creates imaginative projects through Evolve, bringing amazing literary projects like escape room The Lost Librarian and augmented-reality installation Unlocking The Cage, both of which will be touring Devon's libraries this summer.

Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre and FabLab Devon, a community creative space providing access to digital equipment and 3D Printers.

Libraries Unlimited also runs Work:Space and The Writers Block, community co-working spaces and a rentable flat in Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, and Kingsbridge — find out more about those on our Resources Page!
