The Bookery Presents: Picture Book Masterclass with Sarah McIntyre

  • The Bookery 21 High Street Crediton EX17 3AH (map)

Calling all aspiring picture book writers and/or illustrators! Join Grumpycorn writer and illustrator Sarah McIntyre to discover secrets of creating your own fabulous book! A fun workshop that will help you to put your ideas for a picture book into practice.

Learn how Sarah created her own picture books, as she explains about layouts, composition and pace. Find out how to build drama in your story and consider which points of your story might be the best to illustrate, whether you illustrate the story yourself or want to create a text for an illustrator to tackle. Sarah will start you making your own mini book, walking you through the process, and you’ll have extra time at the end to stick around and finish your project.

The workshop will be followed by a chance to get books by Sarah McIntyre signed and dedicated, and feel free to bring your portfolio or sketchbook for feedback.

Duration: 1.5 hours class plus 30 extra minutes of independent workspace time. There will be an opportunity to get feedback and chat to Sarah in this time.  Age: 16+

Cost: £35 per person to include materials, refreshments, a signed copy of one of Sarah’s books plus 10% off Sarah’s other titles on the day.

Accessibility Statement: There is one step up to access the Hub building at the rear of the shop, then one flight of stairs with a bannister to access the first floor where the masterclass will be held.
