Exeter Literary Festival
5-7 November 2021 at Exeter Library and Exeter Custom House
Exeter Literary Festival promotes the appreciation of words in all forms within Exeter and the surrounding region, through professionally organised, widely accessible literary events, focusing on two primary audiences: firstly readers, who are introduced to a diverse range of authors, both traditionally published and indies, writing across all genres; and secondly, the active community of writers across the region, providing workshops, networking and mentoring events to help them find their voices, create, publish and discover their audiences.
Exeter Literary Festival believes the celebration of literature should be accessible to a diverse audience, offering inspiration and opportunity to everyone. To enable this, they design their programme, in particular workshops, to be fully accessible to the low-paid, which includes many writers, especially new and emerging ones and those from marginalized communities. This is achieved by ticketing our events at the lowest practical level, by the provision of sponsored places, and by offering free events. All speakers and workshop leaders should be paid for their services.
The principal event is a three-day festival, supplemented by partner events in the weeks running up to the start of the festival. Additional events throughout the year are envisaged as the Festival grows.
