Spork! Up
Spork! is an Exeter-based organisation led by spoken-word artist Chris White. It started in 2018 as a monthly open-mic and now creates live events, workshops, and the ongoing artist development program supporting emerging talent in the south west - Spork! Up.
Spork!’s goal is to bring more spoken-word to Exeter and to get people engaged in poetry in a way that’s accessible, empowering and fun.
2021 — During lockdown, 5 Exeter-based artists — Charice Bhardwaj, Alexandra Onofrei, Maya de Freitas, Silai Estatira, and Just Some Guy — were invited to take part in a digital commission, resulting in 5 brilliant filmed works. 2020 — Spork! selected 4 talented poets from across the South West to create new work, hone their craft and develop their skills. Over 6 months these emerging artists took part in a series of exclusive workshops, had tailored mentoring and advice, created a filmed piece and performed live as part of the Spork! 2 year anniversary event!
